Mike
Beers is a World
Champion team Roper, 24 time NFR qualifier and 30 time Columbia river
Circuit Finals champion.
Mike
has competed in Tie-down roping and Steer roping as well as Team roping.
Mike
qualified for for the NFR in the Calf Roping 1981, 1983 & 1985. In
the Steer Roping he qualified for the NFR in 1992.
Mike
started his roping career in high School when in 1977 he was the Oregon
All-Around and Team Roping Champions. 1978 found Mike
as the College National finals Rodeo Team Roping Champion, and in 1980
he joined the PRCA and qualified for the NFR in Team Roping. In the 24
years that have past since Mike's
first NFR he has qualified for all but 5 NFR's. In 2000, 2001, &
2003 he qualified for the ProRodeo Tour Finale.
Besides
being a World champion himself, Mike
has had the opportunity to rope with many other champions, such as his
current partner Brandon Beers as well as Charles Pogue, Tee Woolman,
Joe Beaver, Bobby Hurley, David motes and Matt Tyler to name a few.
Mike's
Greatest year was 1984 when he won the World with ProRodeo hall of Fame
Cowboy Dee Pickett. Also in Abilene, Texas they set a World record time
of 3.9 that held for 15 years. 2007 has proven to be a great year too.
Winning Houston Rodeo with Brandon and continuing on to qualify for the
2007 NFR has been a dream come true. The road to recovery from a
fractured shoulder blade and pelvis will make this years NFR the
highlight of a series of accomplishments that Mike
has achieved this year.
Also in 1984 Mike
was the Original Coors Chute-out series Team Roping Champion and
1986 Wrangler Timed Event Champion.
On
the road to the NFR each year Mike
has won at several well known rodeo's, such as 2004 Pendleton Round-up,
2003 San Antonio Livestock exposition, 2002 Days of '47 Rodeo ( salt
lake city) and farm-city Pro Rodeo (Hermiston, or), 2001 American
royal Rodeo (Kansas city, mo), 2000 Dodge City Round-up (Kansas) and
Days of '47 rodeo. The list goes on just as Mike's
career has, consistently winning ProRodeo after ProRodeo nation wide as
well as continuously claiming championships year after year at the
Columbia River Circuit Finals. In fact Mike
has won more circuit titles than anyone else.
Mike is a member of the "BFI 30
Club" reserved only for those who've competed in every bob Feist
Invitational to date. The club has four remaining members. Besides
Mike there is Allen Bach, Denny
Watkins & Walt Woodard.
Mike
lives in Arizona during the winter months and Oregon during the summer.
He has two sons, Brandon and Joe. Brandon started his Pro-Rodeo
career the spring of 2005 starting at San Antonio Livestock exposition where he headed in the team roping with Blair Burke. Brandon won the
Oregon High School Team Roping Championship in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and
has gone on to the National High School finals, as well as winning the
2002 Jr. World Champion heeler and is an USTRC competitor. This year
Brandon has been roping with
Mike Joe
lives in Texas and is a USTRC competitor as well. This year he moved up to a #7
heeler .
